We offer studio membership to people wanting to expand their skills and develop their practice beyond a weekly class set up.
Membership is not suitable for beginners as you need to be able to work independently in the studio
Where is the studio?
Just off Orpington High Street, London Borough of Bromley
15 minute walk from Orpington’s Zone 6 Train Station and a short bus from St Mary Cray Station
What does it cost?
£155 per month
What is included?
Personal storage space comprising of two shelves in the storeroom
Open-access every day (see below for more details - not always 24 hour)
Access to wheels and studio tools
Access to ceramic books
Technical, creative and skills development and support
A creative support network
Access to exclusive online membership area and online tutorials
Glaze test making sessions - where you can make up small quantities of glaze using our stock of glaze materials, on a pay as you go basis so you don’t have to buy all your own materials
What do you need?
Your own clay
You can use the studio glazes and pay as you go, or buy your own cone 6 glazes
We fire to Cone 06 and Cone 6
Firings generally happen twice a week throughout term time, one bisque and one glaze firing
Are there extra costs?
Firings and use of Studio Glazes are extra - you pay for what you fire
£8 per kg for just your firings, using your own glazes - (one bisque and one glaze firing per piece)
£10 per kg for firings, using the studio glazes - (one bisque and one glaze firing per piece)
Open-Access
There is no time limit on how long or how often you come to the studio each week, but there are times when the studio is closed to members. During these times, you can work in the storeroom where there is a table and a wheel.
There is no access to the main studio whilst our classes are running currently 7 times a week, three mornings and three evenings, and some weekends.
We close the studio for two hours every week for studio cleaning. This is listed on the calendar.
Can I use the studio full time?
No, sorry! We cannot accommodate a production potter or someone wanting to work full-time within the studio. We do not have the kiln capacity or storage space for full-time makers who make big batches of work.
